Enjoy an unforgettable 8-day journey in June, discovering the magic of the Kingdom of Contrasts. This itinerary takes you from the vibrant energy of Marrakech and the mystical silence of the Sahara dunes to the living history of Fez and the blue charm of Chefchaouen.

Itinerary:

 •  JUNE 3: MENARA AIRPORT - MARRAKECH
Welcome at the airport and transfer to our charming riad. Just a 5-minute walk away is the enigmatic Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, a famous Marrakech gathering place with an incomparable atmosphere: snake charmers, dancers, storytellers, fortune-tellers. Take a stroll around the square and have dinner at one of its many stalls serving traditional Moroccan food.

•  JUNE 4: GUIDED TOUR OF MARRAKECH
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Marrakech. We begin at the Koutoubia Minaret (13th century), the sister monument of Seville’s Giralda. Its splendid harmony makes it the city’s spiritual center and landmark. Next, visit the Saadian Tombs (16th century), renowned for their central dome of Carrara marble. We then visit Bahia Palace (16th century), a fine example of aristocratic life in the medieval Muslim world, especially its Ambassadors’ Hall with its cedarwood ceiling. We’ll continue on foot to Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour runs from around 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free afternoon. Overnight at the riad in Marrakech, breakfast included.  


•  JUNE 5: MARRAKECH - HIGH ATLAS - OUARZAZATE - DADES GORGES
 Depart from Marrakech via the Tichka Pass, crossing the Atlas Mountains with stops to enjoy the magnificent views along the way, rest, or take photos whenever you like. We continue to Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most spectacular fortified villages in southern Morocco, and a landmark filming location for international movies such as Oblix, Gladiator, and Sahara. Next, we visit Ouarzazate, Morocco’s film capital, before taking the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. From here, we’ll follow a track through the mountains, where you’ll have the chance to appreciate the quiet life of the Berber nomads. Overnight in the Dades Gorges. https://riadgabsidades.com/

•  JUNE 6: DADES GORGES - TODRA GORGES - ERFOUD - MERZOUGA
After breakfast, we head towards the desert via one of Morocco’s most spectacular sights, the Todra Gorges. It’s an ideal place to walk and explore. We continue to Merzouga, where camels will take us to a nomad tent camp among the dunes for the night. https://www.luxuryoasiscampmerzouga.com

  • JUNE 7: DESERT – ERFOUD – FEZ
Watch the sun rise over a sea of dunes. After breakfast, we’ll travel by 4x4 to the Ziz Valley via Erfoud, known for its fossils. We’ll stop in Midelt, an important town in the Middle Atlas, for lunch, then continue our journey to Fez via Ifrane, the “Moroccan Switzerland.” Arrival in Fez.   •  JUNE 8: FEZ - CHEFCHAOUEN 
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour with a local guide to discover the medina of Fez and its artisans’ quarter, especially the tanners’ district. The oldest of Morocco’s imperial cities, Fez is also the country’s spiritual center. We’ll start with a panoramic view from one of the surrounding hills, then head to the Royal Palace and its monumental bronze gates. We’ll cross the Mellah, or Jewish quarter, before entering the medina to explore its streets on foot. We’ll visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss and a medersa, then continue through the artisans’ quarter, including the famous tanners’ district. In the afternoon, after lunch, we’ll leave Fez for the small fortified blue city of Chefchaouen, whose buildings and houses are painted blue and white. It is one of the prettiest towns in the Rif Mountains. Overnight at a riad.
 
•  JUNE 9: CHEFCHAOUEN - TANGIER
 
We leave this beautiful northern city and head to Tangier, the gateway to Morocco and Africa. Explore the bustling medina and the city’s surroundings, and enjoy the stunning views where the Mediterranean and Atlantic meet before visiting the Caves of Hercules.

•  JUNE 10: AIRPORT TRANSFER
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport, depending on your flight departure time. End of our services.
