Marrakech to Fez: 5 Days of Pure Route through the Heart of Morocco

With a special route that starts in the vibrant energy of Marrakech and ends in the history of Fez, you'll traverse the country's most enchanting landscapes, where diverse climates and scenery converge, all in just 5 days.

Itinerary:

DAY 1: MARRAKECH - HIGH ATLAS - OUARZAZATE - THE DADES GORGES

Welcome at the airport and transfer to our charming Riad. Just a 5-minute walk away is the enigmatic Jemaa el-Fna Square, a famous meeting point in Marrakech with an incomparable atmosphere: snake charmers, dancers, storytellers, fortune tellers. Stroll through the Square and have dinner at one of the many stalls selling typical Moroccan food.

DAY 2: MARRAKECH - HIGH ATLAS - OUARZAZATE - THE DADES GORGES

Departure from Marrakech via the Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass, where we will cross the Atlas Mountains, making stops to enjoy the magnificent views along the route and to rest or take photos whenever you like. We will continue on to Ait Ben Haddou, one of the most spectacular fortresses in southern Morocco, which you will have the opportunity to visit. It is iconic because several international films such as Oblivion, Gladiator, and Sahara were filmed there. We will then proceed to Ouarzazate, the film capital of Morocco, and continue along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. From here, we will take a track through which you will have the opportunity to appreciate the tranquility of the mountains inhabited by Berber nomads. Overnight in the heart of the Dades Gorges. DAY 3: THE DADES GORGES - TODRA GORGES - ERFOUD - MERZOUGA
After breakfast, we'll head towards the desert via one of Morocco's most spectacular sites, the Todra Gorge. It's an ideal place for hiking and exploring. We'll continue to Merzouga where you'll ride camels to reach a nomadic tent in the middle of the dunes, where you'll spend the night. Accommodation in: https://www.luxuryoasiscampmerzouga.com/

DAY 4: DESERT – ARFOUD – FEZ

We'll be able to watch the sunrise over the sea of dunes. After breakfast and a shower, we'll depart by 4x4 to the Ziz Valley via Erfoud, known for its fossils, arriving in Midelt, a significant town in the Middle Atlas Mountains, for lunch. Then we'll continue our journey to Fez, via Ifrane, the "Moroccan Switzerland." Arrival in Fez. Overnight stay with breakfast in a charming riad.

DAY 5: GUIDED TOUR OF THE CITY OF FEZ - AIRPORT TRANSFER:

After breakfast, we'll take a guided tour of Fez with a local guide, exploring its medina and the artisans' quarter, particularly the tanneries. Fez is the oldest of the imperial cities and the spiritual center of the country. We begin with a panoramic view from one of the surrounding hills. We then head towards the Royal Palace with its monumental bronze gates. We'll cross the Mellah, or Jewish quarter, to enter the medina and explore its streets on foot. We'll visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss and a Medersa (madresa). The tour continues through the artisans' quarter, where the tanneries are a highlight. The afternoon is free in Fez, and depending on your flight time, you may be transferred to the airport.
